The Mililani girls soccer team remained undefeated after a 3-1 win over visiting Pearl City last night in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference West Division game.

Mililani (11-0-0) had already clinched the West title before yesterday's game, earning one of four first-round byes (two for the East and two for the West) for the OIA Tournament that begins next week.

The Trojans lead the OIA Red West with 33 points, followed by Kapolei (8-2-1; 25 points) and Pearl City (7-2-2; 23). Kapolei plays Mililani Friday and Pearl City plays Campbell.

"We picked it up at the end of the season," said Mililani senior forward Chelsey Goo. "We still come out hard every game because we don't want to let up at the end."

The Trojans lead the division in scoring with 44 goals, almost double that of Kapolei (25), the second-leading scoring team. Mililani has allowed only three goals this season.

"I think having a strong defense like this allows you to take more risks on offense," Mililani coach Ray Akiona said.

Junior forward/midfielder Mari Miyashiro scored first for the Trojans after sophomore midfielder Kristen Nakagawa sent a long ball from the right sideline into the mouth of the goal. The Pearl City goalkeeper batted it down and Miyashiro headed it into the goal three minutes before the first-half whistle.

Goo scored her 13th goal of the season in the 55th minute when Miyashiro sent a long ball from near midfield over the head of the Pearl City defenders for Goo to chase down. Goo popped the ball over the Pearl City goalkeeper, who was coming out of the goal to try to break up the play.

"We still have to have a lot of confidence for Kapolei, because it's not over yet," Goo said.

Trojans junior midfielder Sasha Moscatello scored in the 75th minute when she volleyed in a cross from senior midfielder Isabel Romero.

Chargers senior forward Dayna Domingo scored on a low shot into the left side of the goal in the 78th minute.
