The $10 cover can seem like a far stretch nowadays. But at the Living Room's Tuesday party called "I'm With That," party promoters wanted to create a recession-friendly environment with no cover, $5 pupu menu and generous drink specials.
"We play hip-hop, and anything from Sade's 'Kiss of Life' to Mobb Deep's 'Shook Ones Part 2.' We also play at least four Mary J. Blige songs a night," says Chris Kam, also known as DJ Delve1der. "The music for this night is carefully selected." DJs Delve1der, Compose, Sssolution and Jules hold it down on the turntables until 2 a.m. at the Living Room, 1009 Ala Moana Blvd.; 524-0150, www.thelivingroomhawaii.com.

MUSIC
ROCK HALL OF FAME
Here's a shout out to Run-DMC — named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for induction in 2009, and only the second rap act so honored, following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in 2007.
Other inductees announced Wednesday were soul singer Bobby Womack and the R&B group Little Anthony & the Imperials. Rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson was selected in the early influence category.
Sidemen inductees are session musician Spooner Oldham and Elvis Presley band members D.J. Fontana and Bill Black. The induction ceremony is April 4 in Cleveland.

OBAMA ON FACEBOOK
A move to give Facebook users the "face" of Barack Obama in time for the presidential inauguration is sweeping the social networking site. The image itself reflects the nation's multifaceted nature: photojournalist David Burnett's portrait of the president-elect was rendered into a photomosaic by artist Robert Silvers, constructed from more than 3,000 images cut from major newspapers — including The Honolulu Advertiser — on the day after the election.
"We're trying to have as many people as possible join our Facebook group and display the mosaic as their Facebook profile page on Tuesday," says administrator Gareth Edmondson-Jones. Facebook members can join in at http://tinyurl.comObamaPhotoFacebook.

SPRING AWAKENING
Now that the holidays are over and longer days are approaching, it's time to plan your weekends at the beach. With spring in full swing, it's time to shop for that new bikini, and Honolulu designer Roberta Oaks has the newest of the new — her first swimwear line, debuting this year.
The local designer has created a line of bright colors, bold prints and flattering shapes to be mixed and matched. "I'm an artist, and I get into my head and just start creating," says Oaks. The bikinis are produced in limited lines, so the likelihood of another girl skipping down the beach in your look is small. Prices range from $101 to $112 at www.robertaoaks.com.
