Red Hill stabbing suspect arrested

Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in a critical stabbing that took place in the Red Hill area in December.
Police said the suspect and the 33-year-old victim knew each other and the stabbing, which took place at 11:19 p.m. on Dec. 22, appeared to be unprovoked.
The suspect was identified by a witness, arrested and then released pending investigation. The victim went to a hospital in critical condition.
After his recuperation, the victim identified the suspect and police arrested him Friday on a warrant on suspicion of attempted second degree murder.
Bail was set at $250,000.
SEARCH ONGOING FOR BIG ISLE PILOT
The U.S. Coast Guard, Big Island Fire Department and others were searching yesterday for a missing pilot who was last seen Friday flying a glider plane near the peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
Friends and witnesses said Dave Bigelo was piloting his glider near Mauna Kea in an effort to set a high altitude record.
The glider was airborne mid-morning, but Bigelo has not been heard from since about 2 p.m. Friday. The Coast Guard urges anyone with information to call its Honolulu Joint Rescue Coordination Center at 808-535-3333.
POLICE LOOKING FOR MAUI BANK ROBBER
KAHULUI, Maui — Maui police are looking for a man who robbed the Bank of Hawaii branch in the Maui Marketplace at 1:20 p.m. Friday.
The man is described as being in his 50s and about 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 205 pounds. The man is balding with black and gray hair and wore a dark-colored windbreaker with a gray square patch on the left sleeve, shorts possibly with a camouflage pattern, and black rubber slippers.
