The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team remained winless in the Western Athletic Conference — and for 2009 — after a 69-50 loss to Nevada yesterday.

An afternoon crowd of 319 at the Stan Sheriff Center watched the Rainbow Wahine lose their sixth consecutive game.

Dellena Criner had 12 points and eight assists, and Brandi Jones scored 11 points to help the Wolf Pack remain undefeated in the WAC.

The Rainbows dropped to 3-14 overall and 0-4 in the WAC with their sixth consecutive loss against a WAC opponent — a streak dating to last season. Hawai'i has lost all six of its games in 2009. Its last victory came Dec. 22 against Washington State.

Nevada improved to 10-7 overall and 4-0 in the WAC.

Cherlanda Franklin grabbed eight rebounds to lead Nevada to a 45-23 advantage on the boards.

Keisha Kanekoa scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Rainbow Wahine. However, she committed seven of the team's 21 turnovers.

Tara Hittle added seven points and three rebounds, and Catherine Cho and Allie Patterson each added six points for the Rainbows.

Nevada opened the game with a 12-3 lead and stayed in front the rest of the game. The Wolf Pack took a 32-19 lead at intermission.

Hawai'i never got closer than 11 points in the second half.

The Rainbows shot 36.2 percent from the field, including 0 of 5 from 3-point range. The Wolf Pack shot just 37.7 percent from the field, but that included 7 of 10 from 3-point range.

Jones and Megan Cherry both hit a pair of 3-pointers for Nevada.

Kanekoa had four steals as Hawai'i forced 23 turnovers.

Hawai'i's next game is scheduled for Friday against Fresno State at the Sheriff Center.
