MLB: Tadahito Iguchi returns to Japan with Lotte

Associated Press

TOKYO — Infielder Tadahito Iguchi returned to Japanese baseball Tuesday, signing a three-year deal with Bobby Valentine's Chiba Lotte Marines.

Iguchi, who spent four seasons in the major leagues with the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, will earn an annual salary of $1.9 million plus incentives, the Nikkansports newspaper reported.

The 34-year-old helped the White Sox win the World Series in 2005, a season in which he hit .278 with 15 home runs and 71 RBIs.

Prior to leaving for the major leagues, Iguchi spent seven seasons with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, also of Japan's Pacific League.
