Mighty Mo to host cookoff with celeb chefs Jan. 31

The Battleship Missouri, now a museum ship docked at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, will be the site of a "Hawaii's Mightiest Chef" cookoff featuring D.K. Kodama of Sansei and d.k. restaurants and Glenn Chu of Indigo Eurasian Cuisine, pitting their skills against the Navy cooks, part of an all-day foodie- and family-friendly event Jan. 31 celebrating the Mo's 10th anniversary as a Pearl Harbor attraction.

The Mighty Mo event will include live entertainment pierside; food for purchase; recognition of volunteers, donors and sponsors of the event; and the cookoff, among whose judges will be chef Alan Wong.

Admission is free for all kama'aina and all military with valid ID.

Events begin at 9 a.m.; the cookoff is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with results announced at 2:30 p.m. The ship will be open to view with admission as usual for self- or docent-guided tours.

Special for this event only, the public will be allowed direct access to the ship with parking permitted on Ford Island.
