Volleyball: David Gantt named Gonzaga women's coach

Associated Press

SPOKANE, Wash. — Former Montana State volleyball coach David Gantt has been named the women's volleyball coach at Gonzaga.

Gonzaga athletics director Mike Roth announced the hiring.

Gantt replaces Kip Yoshimura, who resigned Dec. 4 after seven seasons.

Gantt was volleyball coach at MSU for nine seasons, from 1994-2002, compiling a 159-96 record, including a school best 21-6 mark in 1998. Gantt most recently was an adjunct professor at MSU and a collegiate volleyball official.

Gantt began his college coaching career at Montana State-Northern in 1988 and was named the Frontier Conference coach of the year in 1989 after the Skylights posted a 24-14 record and won the league title.

He coached at Oregon State from 1991-93, posting a 29-36 mark.

Gantt was the senior associate athletics director for external operations at Montana State from 2003-05 and was athletics director at Northern from 2005-07.
