Brrrr ... Cold weather here to stay — for now

Keep that extra blanket out through the middle of the week, because a cold front will make its way toward the Islands, bringing showers and possibly snow to the summits of the Big Island.
"It won't get any colder than what we've been experiencing," said Ian Morrison, National Weather Service meteorologist. "We'll get some moisture with this front and a slight chance of thunderstorms."
Temperatures will range in the low-to mid-60s with daytime highs about 77 degrees, Morrison said.
The front is expected to arrive on Oahu about rush hour on Monday. By Thursday, typical trade wind weather should prevail.
Kauai should see the first brush of rain tomorrow, then Oahu, and the system may stall over Maui County, where it will re-energize, Morrison said. Late Tuesday thunderstorms may develop over the lower and mid-slope areas of the Big island. If they develop, the summits could see "a quick heavy burst of snowfall."
A small-craft advisory has been issued for the waters around the Big Island, windward Maui waters, and the Pailolo and Kaiwi channels, according to the National Weather Service.
