Training copter makes precautionary landing
An Army Black Hawk helicopter made a precautionary landing yesterday at Kapi'olani Park after a warning indicator light came on in the cockpit.
The helicopter was on a routine training flight when the UH-60 helicopter touched down in an open field at the park at 3:06 p.m., an Army news release said.
There was no damage to the helicopter or injuries to the flight crew or people in the park.
Army mechanics were sent to the park to see why the warning light came on. The Black Hawk was flown back to Wheeler Army Air Field about 6:30 p.m.
"This was simply a precautionary landing, and at no time was the community in danger," Army spokesman Loran D. Doane said.
