Hawai'i County fire rescue personnel plan to resume the search at daybreak Friday for a man who was reported missing on a trail in the Volcano area.
The fire department said it received a call from someone that the man went looking for his two dogs Tuesday morning at the trail which begins at the end of Pearl Avenue in the Mauna Loa Estates subdivision.
The man did not return, and the person who made the report went looking for the man today but could not find him. The missing man is said to be an experienced hunter in the area.
Firefighters received the call at 5:22 p.m. and arrived at 6:05 at the trailhead, where they found the missing man's car, which was locked.
Rescue personnel made a brief search but suspended the search because of darkness. A ground and air search will resume Friday morning.
