Bicyclist still hospitalized after Monday road accident
A 64-year-old bicyclist remained hospitalized yesterday after suffering critical injuries Monday when a car collided with him in Pearl City, police said.
Glare from the sun may have been a factor in the 6:24 a.m. accident, police said.
The Pearl City bicyclist was riding makai-bound on Noelani Street and a Honda Accord was being driven by a 48-year-old Pearl City woman mauka-bound on Ho'olaulea Street. The car was making a left turn when it collided with the bicycle in the intersection of Ho'olaulea and Noelani streets, near Highlands Intermediate School.
The man, who was wearing a helmet, suffered head and bodily injuries and was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The driver was not injured.
