Kauai drag racer killed

Longtime Kaua'i drag racer Rudy Ramos, 62, died Friday night following an accident at Kaua'i Raceway Park in Kapa'a.
According to the Garden Isle Racing Association, on-site emergency staff responded to the accident.
Another driver at the track told The Garden Island newspaper that Ramos was taken to Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital and later transported to Honolulu.
The Honolulu medical examiner's office confirmed that Ramos had died, but said that no information on cause of death was yet available.
GIRA released a statement: "This tragic event is an enormous loss for the entire racing community. Rudy has been part of our racing community for over 30 years; he was a passionate racer and a great sportsman."
