Sam Cyr of Makawao, Maui, was eliminated in the round of 32 at today’s match play of the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men’s Amateur Championship in Dupont, Wash.

No. 30 David Fern of Spokane, Wash., defeated No. 3 Cyr, 1 up.
Cyr, a King Kekaulike graduate who won his second straight NAIA national championship at Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) in May, never led in his match against Fern. Fern led 3 up after the 10th hole. Cyr took the 15th hole to trim Fern's lead to 2 up and took the 17th to make it 1 up. They squared the final hole to end the match.
