The Hawaii International Film Festival is putting on a special Summer Film Series on Demand in conjunction with Nippon Golden Network.
Starting Aug. 1 and running through the end of the month, film lovers statewide can enjoy a special selection of 10 English subtitled films from Japan in the “HIFF” Category on NGN on Demand Channel 680.
The 10 films are a mix of past HIFF favorites, titles that were released outside of HIFF’s annual Spring and Fall Showcases, and other titles selected by HIFF.
They include HIFF’s 2006 Closing Night film "Hula Girls," featuring music from Jake Shimabukuro, "Year One in the North" (featured as a part of HIFF’s 25th Anniversary), "Linda Linda Linda" (Spring Showcase 2006), and more.
Each of the films can be ordered from home, On Demand, using Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s remote control for Digital Cable at a price of $4.99 per title.
To view any of the films, tune into NGNonDemand on channel 680 anytime in August. Wait for the menu to load then use the Left and Right arrow buttons to select the “HIFF” category. Next, use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select a title. To order your film, press the B button.
You may also view title descriptions of the film with the Select button. Anytime during playback, you may use the VCR buttons on the remote control to rewind, pause, and fast forward. For more information visit www.hiff.org.
