The owner of KHON filed for bankruptcy protection today.
Atlanta-based NV Broadcasting LLC filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in Delaware in a move to slash $400 million in debt. KHON is among the at least 18 stations owned and operated by NV.
The company said the bankruptcy is a prepackaged reorganization that will have no impact on KHON, its employees, its programming and its customers.
“It won’t have a negative impact on Hawaiçi,” said Joe McNamara, KHON’s president and general manager.
