Air ambulance firm adding two new aircraft to its fleet
The air ambulance company AirMed Hawaii said it is adding two planes, increasing its fleet to five aircraft.
The company, which has been based in Honolulu since 2006, announced Friday that one of the additions is a fourth interisland short-range aircraft.
It said the other new plane is a long-range jet, which will enable the company to transport patients from the Islands to the Mainland. Currently, AirMed needs to use a long-range jet flown to Hawai'i from the Mainland or Hong Kong.
Both new planes are being outfitted at parent company AirMed International's facility in Birmingham, Ala. They are expected to be delivered for service within the next 30 to 45 days.
