ST. LOUIS — President Barack Obama is expected to be in the broadcast booth Tuesday during the telecast of the Baseball All-Star Game from Busch Stadium in St. Louis, culminating a series of negotiations between the network and the White House, Fox Sports President Ed Goren said Monday.
He added that Obama, who is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game, can stay in the booth as long as he wants with broadcasters Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
“We’d be glad to have three in there for nine innings,” Goren said.
Fox senior vice president of field and technical operations Jerry Steinberg said it has not been difficult working out the logistics.
“The Secret Service has been very easy to talk to, not like — ’No, you can’t do that. They have been very solution-oriented.
“And as cool as this is for us, I think it’s cool for (Obama) — he’s a real baseball fan.”
Don’t expect Buck or McCarver to grill Obama on the economy, Senate hearings or other political issues.
“He’ll talk baseball,” Goren said. “This isn’t ’Fox News Sunday.”’
