MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Guard Elliot Williams has started classes at Memphis after transferring from Duke, where he played his freshman season with the Blue Devils.
Memphis coach Josh Pastner announced Wednesday that the 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard began classes Tuesday as part of the university's second summer session. Pastner said the Tigers welcomed the well-known Memphis native into the family.
Williams helped Duke to a 30-7 record and played in 34 of 37 games. He announced earlier this summer he was transferring closer to home to be near his sick mother. He plans to ask the NCAA for a waiver from its rule forcing student-athletes to sit out a year after transferring.
