City clerk appointee wins unanimous Council approval
The City Council yesterday voted 8-0 to approve the appointment of veteran Honolulu Hale employee Bernice Mau as city clerk.
Mau, 57, replaces Denise DeCosta, who retired at the end of last year.
Mau was among 36 applicants for the job, which oversees council support services including oversight of city elections.
She began her career with the city as an assistant City Council committee aide in 1984. She was deputy city clerk from July through December 2008 and has been acting city clerk since January.
