Police arrested a 74-year-old Kapolei woman Tuesday night after her husband, 79, told officers she had stabbed him several times.

The man said he returned home about 7:40 p.m. after running an errand and opened the garage door to find his wife standing inside.

He said she suddenly lunged at him with a large knife and cut his right arm several times, and his right cheek.

The man was able to run from the area and call them, police said.

Responding officers arrested the woman on suspicion of second-degree assault.
