CFB: Wyoming great Novacek to be honored

Associated Press

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Former Wyoming great Jay Novacek will be among those enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday in South Bend, Ind.

He is among 17 former college players being enshrined.

Novacek played tight end at Wyoming from 1982 to 1984. He still holds the NCAA record for highest average gain per reception by a tight end in a single season with 22.6 yards per catch in 1984.

He had 83 career receptions for 1,536 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Cowboys.

He is the second Wyoming player to be inducted in the college football hall, joining tailback Eddie Talboom.

Novacek went on to play professional football with the Dallas Cowboys, winning three Super Bowl rings.
