Leonard Peters, a former Kahuku High and University of Hawai‘i football standout, has been named to the U.S. men's national 7s rugby team that will play in the World Games July 24 and 25 in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei.

Peters, a safety who was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and was on the Chicago Bears practice squad in 2008, made the 12-man squad following a week of training in Glendale, Colo.
"Leonard has such speed and explosiveness he is really impressive," USA 7s head coach Al Caravelli said. "In addition, his professionalism and how he fits in with the team chemistry is outstanding."
