Community clean-up time at Aloha 'Aina Earth Day

The Ko'olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club is sponsoring an Aloha 'Aina Earth Day, where people can take unwanted items, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at Windward Mall parking lot on Alaloa Street.

Curbside pickup is also available, including for used automobiles.

Accepted items include metal, appliances, newspapers, telephone books, beverage containers, athletic shoes, green waste, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, computers, cooking oil, eyeglasses and hearing aids, and reusable items for Goodwill Industries.

Items not accepted include paint, hazardous fluids, microwave ovens, televisions and gas tanks.
