MLB: Rangers RHP Padilla tests positive for swine flu
Associated Press
KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Texas Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla has tested positive for swine flu, though his symptoms are subsiding and he’s expected to make his next start.
Padilla was scratched from his start Wednesday against Boston due to flulike symptoms, and lab reports Friday indicated he had H1N1 Type A influenza.
Several Rangers players have been hit with the flu this week, causing the team to delay its flight to Kansas City from Thursday to Friday morning in order to provide additional recovery time. Texas catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was scratched from Friday night’s game due to the flu.
Padilla has responded well to medication and threw a bullpen session in Kansas City on Friday. He’s expected to start Tuesday against Detroit.
