Your house could star on local TV
| |||
O'ahu homeowners are being sought for a new TV show that will give their homes a free energy makeover from Blue Planet Foundation.
The show — "Hawaii Home Energy Makeover" — will be produced this summer and air this fall on KGMB. Billy V and Donalyn Dela Cruz are the show's co-hosts.
Two homes are being sought: One in which no effort to save energy has been made and another in which basic steps have been taken, such as installing a solar hot water heater. The second house will receive further energy efficiency improvements and have a photovoltaic system installed to make it completely energy independent.
Homeowners are invited to complete an application at www.blueplanetfoundation.org/makeover and submit it with a family photo and a photo of their home. You must live on O'ahu, own your home, be willing to have the energy improvements made, commit to lifestyle modifications and appear in the television program.
The deadline to apply is Friday.

TWISTS OF THE T-SHIRT
TURN THOSE TEES INTO ... OTHER THINGS
DIY diva Megan Nicolay is back with a book of 120 projects that turn an ordinary T-shirt (or two or three) into statements of personal style and originality. "Generation T: Beyond Fashion" ($15.95, Workman Publishing) is right on trend with the green approach to recycling what you already have and turning it into something hip and new.
Directions are well illustrated and easy to understand. Nothing to wear for a big date? Turn two T-shirts into a flirty babydoll dress. Can't afford a baby shower gift? Transform a T-shirt into a stuffed mobile, baby bib or burp cloth.
