Book to look back at 'Mom and Pop' businesses, Isle cultural figures

"Stories of Aloha," a new collection of works by Honolulu writer Jocelyn Fujii, first published in the now-defunct Spirit of Aloha magazine, will be released in October, 2009, by Hula Moon Press; advance orders are being taken now.
Fujii's stories introduced endangered small businesses, paid tribute to characters and traditions and acknowledged interesting neighborhoods and rural communities. She wishes this collection to further pay tribute to Aloha Airlines, which closed in 2008, and its employees. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the book will go to Lokahi for Aloha Fund, which aids displaced Aloha Airlines employees.
