The University of Hawaiçi's John A. Burns School of Medicine has been awarded maximum eight-year accreditation by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, a national accrediting organization.
LCME's evaluation of the school involved site inspections by basic science and clinical educators and practitioners in January, as well as extensive reviews of records and interviews with faculty, staff and students.
"We are extremely pleased with not only the outcome but the effort of the entire John A. Burns School of Medicine team and community partners that made this possible," Dean Jerris Hedges said in a news release.
