The U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, which will perform tomorrow night at Fort DeRussy’s Kuroda Field, gave Tamarind Park passersby a sneak preview today.

Formed in 1960, the Corps specializes in patriotic numbers such as “Yankee Doodle Dandy” while dressed in Colonial-style tricorner hats, white wigs and red greatcoats.
The Corps performs at all White House arrival ceremonies for foreign heads of state and has marched in every Inaugural Parade since John F. Kennedy was elected in 1961.
Their performance tomorrow night is themed A Musical Tribute to the “Year of the Non-Commissioned Officer.”
It begins at 6 p.m. and will include music from the U.S. Pacific Fleet Band, the Royal Hawaiian Band, the Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii and the 111th Army National Guard Band.
Lt. General Benjamin Mixon, commander of the Army in the Pacific, and Command Sergeant Major Joseph Zettlemoyer, the Army’s top enlisted man in the Pacific, will deliver speeches.
