Volunteers join up to build playground at Camp Erdman
More than 250 volunteers from the YMCA of Honolulu as well as O'ahu residents have joined forces to build a 29,000-square-foot playground at Camp Erdman in Mokule'ia.
KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization, organized and designed the project. It includes a large fort, jumping course, slide, maze, edible forest and boulder garden.
Native plants and materials were used to create the spacious playground, which also functions as an educational tool on environmental sustainability for the camp's children.
The playground was dedicated Saturday.
