Breezy trades to make their return today

A strong low-level, high-pressure area far northeast of the state has produced fresh easterly trade winds, the National Weather Service said.

The associated trade wind showers will affect mainly the windward and mauka areas and may increase a bit tonight and Friday as an upper atmospheric trough passes south of the Big Island, forecasters said.

Here’s a more detailed look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 85. Breezy, with a east wind between 17 and 23 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. Breezy, with a east wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. Breezy, with a east wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. Breezy, with a east wind between 16 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
