C&C Resorts, Chevron, Tesoro cited for violations

The state Department of Health's Clean Air Branch has cited Castle & Cooke Resorts LLC., Chevron Products Co. and Tesoro Hawai'i Corp. for air pollution violations.
The citations listed:
• Castle & Cooke Resorts LLC., for late submittal of its semi-annual monitoring reports for the January to June 2008 reporting period for its stone processing plant, asphalt plant and concrete batching plant on Lana'i. The violation was discovered on Oct. 8, 2008, during a review of records; a penalty of $2,000 was imposed for the violation.
• Chevron Products Co. for exceeding its rolling 12-month total annual benzene limit of one megagram (1 million grams) per year from September until December 2008. Chevron also failed to notify the DOH within five working days of the permit deviation. Chevron Products Co. is an oil refinery at 91-480 Malakole St. in Kapolei. The violation was discovered on March 12, 2009, during a review of records; a penalty of $8,000 was imposed for the violation.
• Tesoro Hawai'i Corp. for having excessive downtime on its hydrogen sulfide continuous emission monitoring system during the July to December 2008 semi-annual period. Tesoro Hawai'i Corp. is an oil refinery at 91-325 Komohana St. in Kapolei. The violation was discovered on Feb. 2, 2009, during a review of records; a penalty of $3,000 was imposed for the violation.
