Man in 20s dies in Magic Island area
A man in his 20s died in the Magic Island area of Ala Moana Beach yesterday morning, possibly due to drowning.
Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic confirmed that a call was received at 7:26 a.m. and that the victim was pronounced dead at 7:47 a.m. No other details were available.
GROUP PROMISES FIREWORKS IN KAILUA
The community group working to make sure fireworks fill the sky over Kailua Beach this Fourth of July says the show will go on.
At a press conference yesterday, Save Kailua Fireworks volunteers said they are confident the group will raise the $40,000 needed to put on the fireworks display.

KALANIANA'OLE LANES TO CLOSE THIS WEEK
There will be alternating single-lane closures on Kalaniana'ole Highway in both directions this week between Paeoki Drive and Kuli'ou'ou Road, the state Transportation Department advises.
The closures will take place tomorrow through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, for sewer line work.
TREAT DAD TO SOME PANCAKES AT KAISER
The Hawai'i Kai Lions Club will hold its 36th annual Father's Day pancake breakfast at Kaiser High School today from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $6.
