Celebrate Juneteenth with the NAACP on Saturday
The Honolulu chapter of the NAACP will hold its Juneteenth Celebration Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kapi'olani Park.
Juneteenth celebrates General Order No. 3, when the last slaves in America were freed on June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas.
Activities will include a food drive for the Hawai'i Food Bank, a health fair, a keiki ID booth and a voter registration drive. Entertainers will offer poetry readings and perform jazz, gospel, blues and dance music. Food will also be available from local vendors.
