SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The mother of LPGA Tour player Angela Stanford has been diagnosed with breast cancer and soon will begin treatment with chemotherapy.
Stanford, No. 7 on the LPGA Tour money list and third in the Solheim Cup standings, decided not to play in Rochester, N.Y., this week and is not sure when she will return pending the recovery of her mother, Nan Stanford.
The U.S. Women’s Open is in two weeks at Saucon Valley near Philadelphia.
“My mom’s health and happiness are the most important things for me and my family,” Stanford said. “We’re doing everything we can to make sure of that and help her recovery.”
