Lileikis, Costello sprint to swim titles

Tom Lileikis and Kate Costello were the overall winners in yesterday's 1-mile Raging Isle Sprint swim from Sunset Beach to 'Ehukai Beach Park.

Lileikis finished the race, the first leg of the 2009 Surf 'N Sea North Shore Swim Series, in 20 minutes, 33 seconds. Timothy Marr was second in 20:37.3 and Quinn Carver third in 20:38.9.

Costello won the female division in 21:59.9, followed by Rachel Randall in 22:44.7 and Michelle Dudley in 22:57.1.

The second leg in the series — Cholo's Waimea Bay Swim — will be held July 11.

BOWN BOOSTS U.S.

Heather Bown, a former Hawai'i All-American, had six points as the U.S. women's national team beat Guatemala, 25-7, 25-12, 25-7, last night in the Eighth Women's Pan American Cup in Miami.

Meanwhile, the U.S. men's national team — which includes former UH stars Clay Stanley and Alfee Reft — beat China, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22, in an FIVB World League game at San Jose, Calif.
