Reality dating series looking for candidates

ABC Media Productions and Soapnet are calling on local women who "have it all," except for someone to share "it all" with, to participate in the latest reality television show "Holidate."

The new series has already started filming on the Mainland, but may set an episode or two in Hawai'i if it can find the right participants. It will premiere in late July.

Casting directors are looking for local women who have circled the pond over and over, never catching the right fish. More specifically, they are looking for women who are single, educated, professional and between the ages of 28 and 40 (this includes you, single moms and divorcees).

Loosely based on the movie "The Holiday," which starred Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, "Holidate ... Anywhere but Here" will take two women from different cities each episode and swap them. They will set one another up on three dates with three different men in their social circle — such as a friend, relative or ex-flame.

Before each date, the women will do a quick introduction of the bachelors they've set their counterparts up with, via phone or webcam.

"It's like setting a friend up on a blind date," says Holidate casting director Shannon Powers. "There are no surprises, no twists, no turns, no competition. It's just you and the guys and just being in the moment and enjoying the opportunity."

The blind dates are not as "blind" as they seem. After a thorough interview process, casting directors intend to take into account what type of guy participants are looking for, as well as their style and preferences.

If your swapped companion cannot find you the perfect guy, the casting directors will use their research to help find someone instead.

"We really want this to work," Powers says. "We don't want a girl stuck with three guys just because that's all there was."

As if this deal couldn't get any better (it's also all-expenses paid), the commitment time is only three or four days, unlike most reality-love shows, which could take months. That means you don't have to worry about quitting/losing your job to find true love.

All women who are interested in being interviewed to be on the show — and men interested in becoming a possible suitor — are asked to e-mail Powers at holidate09@gmail.com, with their name, age, occupation and current photo.
