Kamehameha, Castle earn top seeds for state boys basketball
Kamehameha and Castle earned the No. 1 seeds for this week's Hawaiian Airlines/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball State Championships.
Kamehameha (17-1), the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion, is the top seed in Division I and received a first-round bye. The Warriors face the winner of Wednesday's Kalaheo-Radford game in Thursday's quarterfinals at McKinley.
O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion Kahuku (17-1) is seeded second, followed by Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Waiakea (11-2) and Maui Interscholatic League champion Baldwin (14-0).
First-round games begin on Wednesday at McKinley and Radford. The championship game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Blaisdell Arena.
Castle (15-2), the OIA White champion, is the No. 1 seed in Division II. The Knights receive a first-round bye and face the winner of Wednesday's Kapa'a-Word of Life game in Thursday's quarterfinals at Farrington.
BIIF champion Kohala (13-0) is seeded second, followed by ILH champion Hawai'i Baptist (13-1) and MIL champion Moloka'i (12-3).
First-round games begin on Wednesday at Kalani and Farrington. The championship game is Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Blaisdell Arena.
