A motorcyclist was seriously injured when he apparently ran a red light and collided with a taxi van at the intersection of Kuhio Avenue and Kaiulani Avenue in Waikiki this afternoon, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

The man, reported to be in his 50s, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and was later upgraded to serious condition.

The collision stalled traffic in the area as police closed off Kanekapolei Street and one west-bound lane of Kuhio.
