Time didn't exactly keep on stepping, stepping, stepping into the future Sunday night when the Steve Miller Band played nearly two straight hours at the Blaisdell Arena.

And that was a good thing for the three-quarters-filled arena, where the older-than-average crowd started the night sitting in their seats, but two hours later ended up looking like a whole lot of happy Benjamin Buttons.

This time, however, there was nothing curious about their case of growing younger.

Steve Miller, "The Joker," did it.

He brought them back to their youth with a voice that, at 65, is still golden and with songs that even the 20-somethings — fans who weren't even born yet when "Abracadabra," Miller's last of three No. 1 singles, hit the charts in 1982 — knew by heart.

Dressed in black pants, a black T-shirt with "Fly like an Eagle," on the back and dark glasses, Miller had a sort of Roy Orbison feel to him.

He changed guitars to nearly every song and invited sing-alongs, which the crowd was more than happy to oblige.

The transformation from old to young was mostly evident in how fans, some in business suits, slowly made their way closer to the stage.

For much of the concert fans in the front rows had unobstructed views, but by the time "Rock'n Me," was rolled out, the front area suddenly looked more like a mosh pit than a pathway. Fans were standing, singing and dancing four-deep from the stage. Some eked closer to get photos and videos, some to get a better look. By the end it didn't matter. Seemingly everyone just seemed to move up. And if you were standing in front of someone who was sitting, oh well. There's only so many times you get to see Steve Miller play.

It was definitely an eclectic mix of young and old. Some held up iPhones with the concert lighter and flashlight applications beaming in appreciation. Others went old school with real lighters.

Both young and old, however, seemed to know the lyrics to most every song and nearly everyone at some point seemed to tap a neighbor on the shoulder and mouth "I forgot he did that one."

The hits were many, ranging from "Swingtown" to "Jet Airliner," "The Joker," "Wild Mountain Honey" and "Jungle Love."

For two hours, Miller and his band managed to turn back time at the Blaisdell last night.

And that was a pretty good deal.
