Hawaii weather: Very windy again today

A massive high pressure area to the north of the islands will keep trade winds blowing strong today before weakening gradually through Wednesday, allowing the trades to slow down toward more usual speeds by the end of the week, the National Weather Service said.

Windward showers will increase as the air mass moistens, forecasters said.

Here's what's in store as the new week begins:

Today...Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 73 to 78. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 61 to 69. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday...Mostly sunny with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 73 to 79. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday Night...Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 61 to 70. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday...Partly sunny with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 74 to 79. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday Night...Mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 63 to 71. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.Windward showers will increase as the air mass moistens.
