UH reliever Spangler is WAC Pitcher of the Week

Hawai'i relief pitcher Sam Spangler was named Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today.
The sophomore left-hander totaled 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in two appearances over the weekend at the Dariy Queen Classic at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. He allowed three hits and one walk while striking out nine in his both appearances against Minnesota. In the first game in which he went 3 1/3 innings, he got a save.
The Rainbows (3-5) went 2-2 on their recent road trip to Minnesota, finishing 1-2 in the Classic. They open a four-game series starting Thursday against No. 26 Mississippi State at Les Murakami Stadium.
