Tadd tied for 64th

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 3-over-par 73 in yesterday's third round of the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Fujikawa, who bogeyed four holes on the back nine, was tied for 64th at 5-over 215, 12 strokes behind leader Y.E. Yang.

The Moanalua High School senior, who made his second cut in a PGA Tour event as a pro Friday, made the turn at 1 under yesterday after a birdie on the par-4 No. 1, a bogey on the par-4 No. 2 and a birdie on the par-5 No. 3.

His birdie putts included an 18-footer on No. 1 and an 11-footer on No. 3. Fujikawa's second shot on No. 2 went into the bunker. He two-putted for bogey.

Fujikawa had trouble on the back nine, bogeying Nos. 12, 15, 16 and 18 to go to 3 over. On the par-4 No. 12, his drive went into a fairway bunker and he two-putted. On the par-3 No. 15, Fujikawa cleared the water fronting the green, but his ball landed in the rear bunker. He then two-putted. His first two shots found the rough on the par-4 No. 16, then he missed a par putt from 12 feet.

Fujikawa's tee shot cleared the water fronting the green on the par-3 No. 17 and he two-putted from 10 feet for par on the final hole of the three-hole "Bear Trap," considered the most difficult on the course.

The par-5 18th proved tough, though, after Fujikawa's third shot went into a right front bunker. His next shot went past the hole into the left rough. He hit his next shot to 16 inches of the hole.
