Hawaiian Airlines, machinists union reach tentative contract deal

Hawaiian Airlines said it has reached a tentative agreement two-year contract agreement with its workers represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, clerical division.
The pact with the "would provide increased compensation and flexibility for employees, as well as operational improvements for the company," Hawaiian said in a news release.
The tentative agreement covers 1,220 employees working in airport customer service, ramp, reservations, schedule planning, purchasing, records and crew scheduling positions at Hawaiian. The agreement is subject to ratification by union members, who are expected to vote on the proposal in the coming weeks.
"Thanks to a collaborative approach we've been able to reach a tentative agreement with the IAM that would increase pay for our unionized ground staff while helping to strengthen our company at the same time." said Hawaiian's president and chief executive officer Mark Dunkerley.
Hawaiian reached a similar agreement last month with its its unionized flight attendants represented by the Association of Flight Attendants.
