Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa saved his best for last at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The 18-year-old pro and Moanalua High senior birdied the 18th hole to finish with his best round of the week — a 1-under-par 69 that gave him a 4-over 284 total and a tie for 52nd.

Fujikawa, playing on a sponsor's exemption, earned $12,805.34 — his second paycheck in a PGA Tour event this year. He won $29,237.14 for finishing tied for 32nd at the Sony Open in Hawai'i in January.

Yesterday, Fujikawa sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole after he hit his second shot into a front bunker.

He also birdied the par-3 No. 5 and par-4 No. 6, while bogeying the par-5 No. 3 and par-3 No. 17.

Fujikawa turned pro two years ago after finishing 20th at the 2007 Sony Open as a 16-year-old, becoming the second-youngest to make a cut in PGA Tour history. He missed his first six PGA Tour cuts as a pro before making his first cut in January's Sony Open, where he shot into contention with a third-round 62 before slipping to 32nd.

Fujikawa will next play in the Puerto Rico Open, which starts Thursday at Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande.

Fujikawa, who will play on a sponsor's exemption, and Puerto Rico native and golf legend Chi Chi Rodriguez are scheduled to give a junior clinic tomorrow.
