Hawaii surf: North Shore may hit 6-8 feet today

Advertiser Staff

Surf along Oahu's North shore will be 5 to 7 feet through this morning, with rough surf increasing 6 to 8 feet by this afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

Elsewhere on Oahu, look for surf of 3 to 5 feet through this morning along east-facing shores, with rough surf increasing to 4 to 6 feet over areas exposed to the north by this afternoon.

Surf along west-facing shores will drop to 1 to 3 feet, while surf along south-facing shores will remain 1 to 2 feet through today.

Outlook through Tuesday, March 17: A low-pressure area several hundred miles north of the islands will send a large, relatively short period north swell across the area Thursday night through Saturday, producing rough surf above advisory level across north- and east-facing shores. The north swell will diminish rapidly to moderate levels for Sunday through Tuesday.
