The city medical examiner's office has identified the man who died in a motorcycle accident near Dillingham Airfield on Sunday as Santos Ranis Sr., 82, of Kane'ohe.

Ranis was riding a 2008 Triumph motorcycle on the service road near the airport maintenance hangars on Sunday at 1 p.m., police said. He lost control on a turn and was thrown from the motorcycle.

He was taken to The Queen's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:17 p.m., police said.

Ranis was wearing a helmet.
