A memorial service was held yesterday in Kailua for Barbara Marshall.

The Honolulu City Council chairwoman and former TV journalist died Feb. 22 after a long battle with cancer. She was 64.

She was elected to the City Council in 2002 and re-elected in November 2008.

The family had requested no media at yesterday's service.

The city will hold a memorial tribute to Marshall at 4:45 p.m. tomorrow at the Mission Memorial Auditorium on the civic center grounds. Parking will be available in the civic center parking garage.
