Hawaii weather: Isolated showers likely today

Southwest winds will become light and variable today and tomorrow as low pressure area west and northwest of Kauai weaken, the National Weather Service said.

Expect land and sea breezes to develop today and tomorrow, as well as increased afternoon clouds and showers, forecasters said.

Trade winds should return Wednesday, then last and gradually strengthen through the rest of the week.

It was 67 degrees at 4:30 a.m. today at Honolulu International Airport.

Here's a closer look at what to expect as the new work week begins:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 75. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: Isolated showers. Cloudy, with a high near 76. Northeast wind at 5 mph becoming southeast. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Isolated showers before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 63. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. East wind around 13 mph.
