WAIMEA, Hawaii — A 67-year-old visitor from Alaska died Friday after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on Akoni Pule Highway, about a half-mile north of the 13-mile marker in the North Kohala District.

Police identified the man as Terry Lee Bergman of Juneau, Alaska. Police suspect he may have suffered a medical problem prior to the crash, which happened just after 2 p.m. when Bergman's northbound 2008 Mercury four-door sedan ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, crossed back onto the highway and struck a southbound 2006 Chevrolet bus.

The victim's 74-year-old wife was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital in critical condition. The bus driver, a 60-year-old Kailua, Kona, man, was listed in serious condition at the hospital.
