Kahului Airport will receive $15 million in economic stimulus money for infrastructure improvements, U.S. Sens. Daniel K. Inouye and Daniel K. Akaka said Tuesday in a news release.

"The funding will go to improving the facilities ... used for loading, unloading and maintaining aircraft," the senators said in a joint statement.

"The hard-working crews at Kahului get the job done, but these improvements will clean up routine wear and tear and better support the operational demands for aircraft arriving and departing from Maui."
